Assessment Descriptions

Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)
An instrument that describes personality as our bundle of preferences for how we are energized (Extraversion or Introversion), how we take in information (Sensing or Intuition), how we make decisions (Thinking or Feeling), and how we choose to relate to the world (Judging or Perceiving). These concepts are useful when coaching future leaders, employees who need to develop communication skills or work habits, and those seeking career direction. This tool can be helpful in enabling an organization’s human resource department to understand communication styles, provide a logical framework for fruitful resolution of conflict and in designing a coaching plan that takes into account the needs and learning style of the person, or people, being coached.

California Psychological Inventory 260 (CPI 260)

An instrument based on the CPI. The CPI 260 Coaching Report for Leaders is a powerful leadership development tool aimed at mid-t o senior-level managers and executives who are working individually with an executive coach or trainer or are participating in a leadership development program with others. The report is extensive and detailed enough to be used effectively as a stand-alone tool, but can also be integrated with other tools. It is designed to help managers and executives better understand their preferences, attitudes, and behaviors in key dimensions of management and leadership, allowing them to capitalize on their strengths, target areas for further development, set goals, and plan action steps. A 17 page report is provided.

Fundamental Interpersonal Relations Orientation-Behavior (FIRO-B)

A personality assessment instrument that measures how you typically behave with other people and how you expect them to act toward you. Its interpretation can dramatically increase your understanding of behavior in areas such as the following:
  • How you come across to others, and why this may not be the way you see yourself or the impression you might want to make
  • How and why conflict develops between well-meaning people
  • How to understand your own needs, and how to manage them as you interact with others
It is now one of the most widely used tools for helping people better understand themselves and how they can work more effectively with others.

Leadership Practices Inventory (LPI)

An instrument that approaches leadership as a measurable, learnable, and teachable set of behaviors. It is a 360 degree leadership assessment tool that helps individuals and organizations measure their leadership competencies, while guiding them through the process of applying Kouzes and Posner’s acclaimed Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership Model to their real-life organizational challenges. The Participant’s Workbook will help you make the most of your LPI Feedback Report, appreciate how others see your leadership behavior, and understand how to use that information to become the most effective leader possible. You will get valuable feedback from managers, yourself, direct reports, co-workers, peers, and colleagues outside your organization.
